Ars Technica has an article entitled Despite credibility issues, online news consumption grows. Credibility issues? Like Dan Rather fabricating evidence? Hmmm. Maybe the established media, with such flagrant biases had the audience to lose rather than the online media have the audience to win.
When you listen to the established media news outlets — both television, news radio (versus talk radio), and newspapers — and pay attention, you can hear their bias though they try to claim to be impartial. Talk radio at least is honest enough to state that they have a bias.
So, no. The story isn’t “despite credibility issues, online news consumption grows”. The story is due to credibility issues, established media loses audience.
